In Baiku Yao village, most of the dead are buried in their homes by their families first, and then coffins are set up in autumn. The general procedures of funeral include coffin lifting, cattle chopping, Gong playing, burial, long banquet and so on. Because of the bloody scene of cattle cutting, it is now arranged in the evening. When we arrived at Huaili village, the villagers were playing bronze drums. Playing bronze drums is regarded as an artifact for the dead to communicate with the gods.
